On June 23rd, 2014, Welfare Association for Youth (WAY) members Climbing 4 Palestine team conquered the summit of Mount Elbrus; the highest summit in Europe, to spread awareness and raise funds for youth in Jerusalem.
Climbing for Palestine was kicked off in 2013 with WAY2Gaza Kilimanjaro challenge , more than ten youth climbed the highest summit in Africa- Kilimanjaro to spread awareness about the living conditions of youth in Gaza and fundraise for Mustaqbali program.
Our team started the challenge to conquer the summit of Mount Elbrus on June 18th, 2014 aiming to support youth in Jerusalem; and fundraising for Silwan Youth Center.
“No words can describe my feeling when I raised the Palestinian flag on Elbrus. this is my own way to tell the world I exist despite all tries to wipe out our identity” Commented Hasan Al Masri, a WAYer participating in the challenge.
Elbrus elevation is 5,642 and the team aims at raising £1 for each meter elevation, any donation even if small will add up and will help to reach our goal,
